I have to say that I was a tad nervous to start reading this book. Since it's the 7th book in the amazing Phy-Changeling series I had a evil little voice in the back of my head whispering "Will this be the book that flops?". We all know it usually happens in long series but I'm so happy I was absolutely, completely WRONG!! (Take that evil me!!) Since the start of chapter one with Katya opening her eyes and seeing the handsome Dev I. was. Hooked. Katya and Dev are such compelling real characters with flaws, weaknesses, wants, desires as well as strength. I love the battle they wage with each other and their feelings. The plot was well thought out and had me on the edge wondering if Katya was going to get her memories back and when. What made me love this book was how even though Katya stated out being just the damaged victim, Singh made sure she didn't stay that way. By the middle of the book Katya was piecing the memoires of her past and who she was back together, while holding her own against the equally compelling and dangerous Dev Santos. I adored Dev and how strong he was physically as well as mentally, recognizing the duty to his people as well as the growing feelings he had for Katya. He was able to acknowledge his feelings and deal with it.Another great aspect of the story was how past characters in the series were included and enhanced the story and the world that Singh built. Letting us know that "hey these people still exist and are important". Nalini Singh has a way of drawing the reader into her world and making us care about the main and secondary characters, even the villains. She doesn't hold back when it comes to writing her villains and the tragic effects they have on society. My heart sped as I read what Katya had to go through with losing her memories. What Dev had to endure with being there for her and his people. Plus the intense love for each other that was being tested to the ultimate degree. The intimate scenes were hot, sexy and tasteful adding another level to their love. All in all I was totally invested in this story and Katya and Dev's journey to find each other. I smiled, laughed, worried, got scared, got mad, and cried (a little, maybe). All through out this book I felt and isn't that what we as readers want? You should defiantly pick up this book , (mainly starting from the first one to understand it fully) and be ready to go on an emotional joy ride!!!
